Your Baby Develops a Rash or Your Teen Has a Severe Acne Outbreak

The next time your baby develops a rash or your teen has a severe acne outbreak, help is just a quick appointment away. Loyola University Health System pediatric dermatologists now offer same-day or next-day appointments to see your child.

"It can take up to three months to be seen by other pediatric dermatologists in the area," said Wendy Schumacher-Kim, DO, pediatric dermatologist, Loyola University Health System. "We know that parents don't want to wait that long to have their child see a doctor when a skin issue flares up unexpectedly."

Loyola pediatric dermatologists see patients at the Loyola Center for Health at La Grange Park, located at 321 N. La Grange Road in La Grange Park, and at the Loyola Center for Health at Burr Ridge, located at 6800 N. Frontage Road. Parents can call or text (708) 897-5608 to reach a pediatric dermatology triage nurse who will schedule the appointment.

Loyola recently hired two new pediatric dermatologists to care for patients. Dr. Schumacher-Kim's medical interests include general pediatric dermatology, vascular lesions (including hemangiomas and port wine stains), birthmarks, laser surgery, psoriasis and acne. She earned her doctor of osteopathic medicine from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed an internship at NorthShore University Health System and her residency in dermatology at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals. Dr. Schumacher-Kim went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric dermatology at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago/Northwestern University.

Lily Changchien Uihlein, MD, JD, is a pediatric dermatologist whose medical interests include general pediatric dermatology, vascular birthmarks and laser surgery. Dr. Uihlein earned her medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University in New York. She also completed an internship at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University. She went on to do a combined dermatology residency training program at Harvard University and a fellowship in pediatric dermatology at Boston Children's Hospital. Dr. Uihlein also graduated from Harvard Law School.
