Rigid plastic film solutions provider Klockner Pentaplast Group is planning to invest in new laminated pharmaceutical film capacity at its site in Montabaur, Germany.
The decision is a part of the company's effort to expand its high-barrier film lamination and coating capacities.
As part of the expansion plan, the company will install a new system to produce Aclar-laminated pharmaceutical films at its Montabaur site.
Klockner Pentaplast EMEA pharmaceutical films business director Markus Pischulti said: "This capacity expansion is part of Kl?ckner Pentaplast's long-term strategy to leverage our global footprint to maximise improvements across the value chain, with a focus on being even more responsive to our pharmaceutical customers' needs now and in the future."
The new line is set to begin by early next year. Once fully operational by the end of 2017, the site will offer the entire kp Pentapharm Aclar product range.
The Montabaur site currently provides kp film range for various industries.
Upon completion of the expansion, the site will have capacity to produce Polyvinylidene chloride (PVdC) coated, high-barrier pharmaceutical films, while continuing to be a backup site for Aclar lamination.
Klockner Pentaplast provides packaging, printing and specialty solutions for pharmaceuticals, food, electronics, medical devices and printing applications worldwide.
Employing more than 3,200 people, the company produces films at 18 plants located in 12 countries.
