Alfa Romeo has officially confirmed a previously reported Nurburgring lap time of 8min04sec set by its 4C sports car.
Reported earlier this month, the time around the Nordschleife circuit in Germany was yet to be officially announced – or proved – by Alfa Romeo until now.
According to the Italian manufacturer, on September 12 the 177kW/350Nm turbocharged 1.75-litre four-cylinder Alfa Romeo 4C “stopped chronometers at 8:04″ with Horst von Saurma at the helm.
The time was achieved with the rear-wheel drive’s six-speed dual-clutch transmission in Race mode and with the 895kg car running on special, though still road-legal, Pirelli P Zero Trofeo tyres.
Claimed to hit 100km/h in 4.5 seconds and have a top speed of 258km/h, Alfa Romeo says the 4C is able to reach peaks over 1.1 g in lateral acceleration and 1.2 g under deceleration.
The Alfa Romeo 4C arrives locally from mid 2014, priced from $75,000.
