In order to meet increasing export demand, Indonesian knitwear producer PT Pelinitra Gunawan has installed a third Montex stenter from A.Monforts Textilmachinen and supplied by its agent DKSH.
In the year 2000, the company opened its own dyeing and finishing facility and purchased its first Montex and a Monforts relaxation dryer.
Three years later, further expansion saw a second Montex being installed alongside a Monforts compactor increasing production to above 330 tons per month.
“Late last year, a third Montex was delivered and installed by DKSH, increasing production up to 500 tons per month,” Monforts said in a press release.
The recently installed Montex, introduces the latest technology to Pelinitra Gunawan and includes heat recovery to make the line 30 per cent more energy efficient; thereby significantly reducing energy costs.
All three Montex stenters have the capability to provide a variety of finishing processes, including anti-bacteria, anti-yellowing, quick dry and others.
Alongside the latest Montex, the felt compactor has been installed for independent operation rather than in line offering increased flexibility and offers a good hand feel and lustre.
A 6 metre long stretching field infeed to the compactor also ensures stable, precise and constant width dimensions.
Gunawan produces fabrics which are either pure cotton or blended with polyester and which make up for 80 per cent of its current production, with other blends featuring viscose, tencel and lycra.
The company knits fabrics in widths of 50–86” and are between 85 and 380 gsm, with the latter generally used for jackets.
Mainly it produces in the 110– 10 gsm range which is used for men’s, ladies casual and intimate fashion wear for the Japanese and German markets.
Indirect export, through local garment manufacturers and Indonesian agencies for customers such as Uniqlo, Asics, S Oliver, Esprit and Massimo Dutti, account for 50 per cent of its production.
