HKTDC Is Set to Host Two Concurrent Apparel-Centric Events

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), an international marketing organization for traders, manufacturers and service providers based in Hong Kong, is set to host two concurrent apparel-centric events ‘Hong Kong Fashion Week’ and World Boutique, Hong Kong.

Slated to take place from January 19 to 22, 2015, the twin fairs, which will highlight latest trends through house fashion shows and catwalk parades, will serve as a business promotional platform for key industry players from across the world.

The upcoming 46th edition of Hong Kong Fashion Week will feature Fall/Winter collections from more than 1500 local as well as foreign exhibitors belonging to the Chinese mainland, Taiwan, Macau and India. Expected to be attended by leading buyers from around the globe, the event will be divided in different zones including Fashion Gallery, Infant and Children’s Wear, Men in Style, Thermal Clothing, Activewear and Swim Wear, and Salon of Scarves and Shawls.

The 13th instalment of the World Boutique, Hong Kong will highlight pieces from international fashion brands and designers like Moiselle, Shanghai Tang, Zalora, I.t and Ika Butoni. The event will be attended by over 600 exhibitors from 18 countries and regions, including the new entrants Finland and South Africa.

Several industry associations, such as the Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association, Knitwear Innovation and Design Society, Indonesian Fashion Designers Association, Redress, Japan Fashion Leather Designers, Kokusai Fashion Centre, Finnish-Hong Kong Trade Association and Taiwan Textile Federation will stage their catwalk shows at the fair.

One of the major attractions of the World Boutique includes the Hong Kong Fashion Extravaganza presented by Audi on the opening day (January 19, 2015). The show will highlight latest fashions from celebrated names like the New York-based haute couturier Loris Diran, Swedish designer Lars Wallin and the Beijing-based talent Wang Yutao.

Also the Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest 2015 for nurturing the local fashion designers will be conducted on the sidelines of the twin fairs. The contest will be judged by the head designer of Swedish retailer H&M, Margareta van den Bosch.

The HKTDC will also promote the citywide campaign Hong Kong in Fashion, which aims to showcase Hong Kong’s role as a fashion hub and lifestyle trendsetter, under the theme ‘Light Me Up’ during the twin events. To be held in collaboration with fashion brands, shopping malls and beauty stores, the campaign will be promoted through various public events, including street snap competition, accessories-making workshops and styling sessions.

Established in 1966, HKTDC promotes Hong Kong as a platform for doing business with China and Asia. The organisation hosts trade fairs and business missions to provide companies, particularly small and medium sized enterprises, with business opportunities on the mainland and in overseas markets, while providing information via trade publications, research reports and online.
