On October 22 local time of Brazil, State Grid Brazil Holding Co. (SGBH) and ANEEL signed the Concession Agreement of Brazil’s Belo Monte Phase II UHV DC Transmission Project for a period of 30 years.
It not only marks the project has officially entered a substantive implementation and construction stage, but also is another important milestone of the UHV’s “going global” strategy, making a solid step for Brazil and America integrating into the global energy interconnection.
The project will build a new 2518 km ±800kV UHV DC transmission line and converter stations an the two ends. It will across the state of Para, Tocantins, Goias, Minas and Rio, and together with the phase I project which is under construction forming a good synergistic effect to make up a north-south UHV integration channel of Brazil. Since winning the bid, SGBH actively communicated with the local governments and submitted qualification files to ANEEL to ensure the franchise bidding qualification reviewed and published punctually. It finished the company registration and account opening in time to guarantee the smooth signing of the franchise agreement. At present, the project orderly carried out the environment evaluation, land acquisition negotiations and the preparation work before construction, such as the preliminary design, site survey and path optimization of the converter stations and lines. The whole project will be put into commercial operation by the end of 2019.
