US carmaker Chevrolet is planning to debut the new Trax SUV at the upcoming 2012 Motor Show, which begins on 27 September, in France.
The new SUV will be offered with a choice of two gasoline engines and a diesel unit.
The 1.4L turbocharged gasoline unit will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission and will generate an output of 140hp and 200Nm torque.
The all-wheel drive (AWD) system is available on variants that come with the 1.4L turbo gasoline or the 1.7L diesel engine.
The 1.7L diesel unit will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and is expected to produce an output of 130hp and a maximum torque of 300 Nm.
Chevrolet said that the AWD system will be offered with 1.4L turbo gasoline or the 1.7L diesel engine.
Features of the new SUV include six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC) including hill start assist (HSA), traction control (TC), an anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake distribution.
The trailer stability assist (TSA) and hill descent control (HDC) will be offered as standard features on LT trim vehicles.
