Little Rapids, a US-based specialty paper manufacturer, has commissioned a new Voith Paper-built XcelLine VTM 3 tissue machine at its manufacturing facility in Wisconsin.
The new Voith machine been designed to replace the existing PM3 machine at its manufacturing facility in Shawano, Wisconsin.
Voith said that the new VTM3’s technologies and components are seamlessly coordinated and integrated with each other.
The new machine is designed to improve paper quality and increase production capacity. It will have production capacity at a speed of more than 1,800 meters per minute.
As part of the contract signed earlier, Voith is also responsible for the supply of stock preparation and approach flow systems, a steam box, a gas hood, and a mist removal and dust reduction system.
Additionally, the Yankee cylinder at the facility has been reused from the old machine.
Voith said that the order was rounded off by its automation package comprising the DCS and MCS systems, as well as field services.
Little Rapids vice-president and general manager Ron Thiry said: “We are extremely proud of the teamwork demonstrated by all parties involved to safely execute the rebuild within a very compressed timeframe.
“We are also encouraged by the performance that we are seeing at this early stage of the machine’s start-up ramp and optimistic that this investment will provide additional capabilities and quality enhancements that our customers value.”
