New Passenger Car in The German Market Fell by Three Percent in 2012

In 2012, new passenger car registrations in the German market fell by three percent year on year to 3,082,500 units, according to the data released by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). However, in December last year Germany's new car registrations fell by 16 percent year on year and were down 26.4 percent compared to November, totaling 204,300 units.

During 2012, a total of 4,126,500 passenger cars were exported from Germany, decreasing by three percent compared to 2011. In December, German passenger car exports amounted to 263,800 units, falling by 13 percent compared to the same month last year and down 31 percent month on month. On the other hand, German car output in 2012 amounted to 5,391,100 units, falling three percent on year-on-year basis. 324,800 cars were produced in Germany in November, falling 15 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and down 34.7 percent month on month.

In 2012, new commercial vehicle registrations in Germany fell by seven percent year on year to 311,500 units, while in December last year new commercial vehicle registrations in the country fell by 25 percent year on year, totaling 23,224 units.
