Topasa Invests in New Xeikon CX3 Digital Label Press

Colombian label printer Topasa has invested in a new digital label press from Xeikon, a move that will increase the company's capacity by over 50%.

Developed based on Xeikon Cheetah technology, the Xeikon CX3 is said to be the most productive five color digital label press in its class.

This press with dry toner electrophotography produces self-adhesive labels at a top speed of 30m/min or 98ft/min. It allows the use of substrate widths up to 330mm or 13in.

Xeikon CX3 provides full rotation printing technology, in addition to toners that meet FDA regulations for food contact, and one pass opaque white toner.

Topasa president and CEO Luis Carlos Lopez said: "We decided for the Xeikon CX3 because of its very high quality, high speed printing, and its ability to produce a wider range of products for our customers.

"The Xeikon CX3 helps us to speed up delivery times and ensure high-definition image quality for our self-adhesive labels."

Besides investing in a new press, Topasa is transferring operations from its facility in Medellín to a new location in Guarne, Antioquía.

The new facility will be equipped with physical and technological infrastructure designed to meet the highest quality standards, including those specified by ISO and GMP.

With these investments, Topasa will be able to produce a full range of new applications to cater to more potential customers and develop new market niches with competitive prices and the highest quality in the market.

Topasa employs 85 workers and offers solutions to address the label and packaging needs of its customers.
