Clothing brand Club Ride continues to grow, opening its 500th North American dealer recently, expanding to four new countries and adding a line of urban cycling clothes.
“We think we are on the cusp of the next big cycling trend," said Club Ride CEO Scott Montgomery.
"The '85-95 decade was all about the mountain bike, and we just ended the Lance carbon road decade. Now we are heading into the 'just ride' phase, and we are going to see the cycling industry finally catch up to the rest of the action sports categories by selling significant portion of retail business in apparel.”
Club Ride's new Sub5 line was developed around the growing commuter market.
The men's line features casual snap-down jerseys constructed from a poly-spandex blend, breathable 8oz denim jeans, a foul-weather softshell pant and short, and a softshell jacket.
On the women's side, lightweight tops feature well-placed pockets and stylish, form-fitting cuts. The line also includes a long-cut short and a softshell pant. A fall/winter line will introduce additions to both the men's and women's lineups.
As for sales outside North America, Club Ride recently expanded to Peru, Brazil, Japan, and Indonesia, the company said.
