JSW Steel Is Planning to Enter Niche Market of Electrical Steel

It is learned that Indian JSW Steel is planning to enter niche market of electrical steel, backed up by Japanese partner JFE who owns 16.17% of JSW Steel. If it comes true JSW would be the first steelmaker in the country who can make electrical steel.

The new plant is scheduled to produce cold rolled non-grain oriented electrical steel, but the company said in a press statement early this week that it is in negotiations with JFE to get into grain-oriented electrical steel, too.

At the initial stage the new plant would produce 200,000 tons per year and it will be increased to 600,000 tons per year eventually, according the company's plan.
