Taiwan LED maker Advanced Optoelectronic Technology (AOT) has reported its revenues during the third quarter of 2014 reached NT$1.79 billion (US$57.28 million), up 5.86% on quarter, with a gross profit margin of 12.43%, down 7.54pp on quarter.
The company said handset backlighting demand was lower than expected during the quarter, resulting in high inventories, decreased product pricing and a reduced profit margin.
In the fourth quarter of the year, AOT expects its profit margin to rebound as it tackles orders from Korea- and China-based TV customers, with demand expected to remain steady into 2015.
