Severstal's Mining Subsidiary Vorkutaugol Has Commissioned Two New Faces

Russian steel producer Severstal has announced that its mining subsidiary Vorkutaugol has commissioned two new cat the Troynoy and Chetvertiy seams at the Komsomolskaya mine.

The 612-s face at the Chetvertiy seam is expected to see extraction of around 78,000 mt of coal per month at its full capacity. The face holds approximately 897,000 mt of coal. At this excavation rate, all coal reserves will be extracted from the longwall within 12 months.

The new face at the Troynoy seam with estimated resources of more than 930,000 mt is expected to see extraction at a rate of almost 115,000 mt of coal each month. Mining operations at the new coal face are expected to be completed by August next year.
