The Renault-Nissan Alliance is planning to invest $160m in its Renault Samsung facility in Busan, South Korea to add the production of Nissan Rogue crossover.
According to the Renault-Nissan Alliance, the fresh investment will increase production of Nissan Rogue crossover by 80,000 units per year after it commences operations in 2014.
During 2012, Busan facility is expected to build 180,000 vehicles for sale in South Korea and 60 other nations.
In the six months of 2012, sales of Renault Samsung Motors declined 33% to 83,062 units when compared to the same period in 2011 and the company has been halting the production at its Busan plant due to sluggish sales.
Busan facility has as an annual production capacity of 300,000 vehicles but had manufactured about 73,810 units in the initial six months of 2012.
The Rogue production in Busan is anticipated to support the Renault Samsung Motors' RSM 2012 Revival Plan, which is aimed to achieve efficiency and cost competitiveness in Busan whilst expanding RSM's line of vehicles.
