Huawei to Expand Its Tablet Line to Introduce Ipad Rivalling Devices at Mwc 2015

Huawei is set to expand its tablet line in the coming weeks, with the Chinese manufacturer to introduce a new series of iPad rivalling devices at MWC 2015.

Despite preparing to increase its presence in the slate race, smartphone specialist Huawei has revealed it will not launch any new handsets at the Barcelona-based conference.

Suggesting the annual show provides too much competition for a successful phone launch, the company instead told TrustedReviews last week that it would unveil its next flagship phone, the Huawei P8, at a dedicated launch event on April 15.

Despite bringing no new phones to MWC, Huawei has promised a number of key announcements will be made during its pre-show press conference.

While the company’s past tablet efforts have drifted into relative obscurity in western markets, the manufacturer is tipping its upcoming offerings for success, suggesting the new slates will target the ‘premium’ end of the market.

“We will focus on the premium products,” Ada Xu, Huawei’s Global Director of Public Relations told TrustedReviews at the company’s HQ in Shenzhen, China.

“This year we will launch a series of tablets, but the flagship one will only be two models. We will be able to share more with you on these in the coming months.”

Although failing to offer up intimate details on the next-gen Android tablets, Huawei has confirmed the slates will be formally unveiled on March 1.

While Huawei’s new slates might not be joined by smartphones on the MWC launch stage, the company has confirmed it will introduce a trio of new wearables at the show.

According to the company’s head of communications, Huawei will launch its first Android Wear watch alongside a second-generation TalkBand and a third, fashion-led wearable.
