Taiwan-based LED secondary optical lens maker Ledlink Optics expects September revenues to show on-month growth. Despite continuous price falls in the LED lighting market, Ledlink's performance has yet to be affected. Market observers believe the firm's 2012 gross margin will remain around 48%.

Ledlink reported August consolidated revenues of NT$82.42 million (US$2.81 million), representing an on-month growth of 13.26%. As for performance in the fourth quarter, Ledlink indicated that October revenues may slip due to China's October 1 long holidays. Nevertheless, orders have been steady and demand has been growing, therefore, fourth-quarter performance may show slight growth or be flat compared to the third quarter.

Market observers noted that Ledlink's orders are expected to be stable to 2013, and with steady module price and above 30% global market share, the firm's 2013 gross margin is likely to remain around 45-48%.

Ledlink developed 418 units of secondary optical lens modules in first-half 2012. According to Telung Tang, CEO of Ledlink, the process from module development to product sales takes 3-12 months. However, customized products can ensure revenue growth and steady gross margins. Tang added that revenues from customized modules are expected reach above 50% of total revenues in 2013.

Currently, Ledlink has 142 sets of equipment at its Dongguan plant, said Tang. As for the Yangzhou plant, equipment will be installed in October and pilot operations are expected to begin in November, said Tang. Ledlink hopes to install 20 units of equipment at the Yangzhou plant in the initial period, and aims to expand capacity to 250 units of equipment in the next three years.

Sales in China accounted for 52% of Ledlink's total sales in first-half 2012, while sales in Europe, the US, and Japan accounted for a total of 33%. Sales in Taiwan accounted for 7-8%, said Tang.

Tang noted that the firm has been focusing on high-power LED lighting such as outdoor lighting for construction sites and business lighting.
