Rip Curl'S Torquay Design Team Hooked up with Woolmark to Produce Merino Garments

Following on from the successful launch of the MF1 boardshort and on the eve of a global release of the high-class “Mick Fanning by Rip Curl” clothing range, Rip Curl’s Torquay design team have hooked up with Woolmark Australia to produce a selection of 100% certified MF Merino wool garments for the upcoming Rip Curl Pro to be held at Bells Beach Australia this Easter Weekend.

Headlining the injection will be a 100% Woolmark certified Merino wool “wetsuit poncho” supplied to all ASP World Championship Tour competitors. The poncho is designed to be worn as an over garment providing warmth and insulation between heats or when changing in and out of wetsuits.

And… it’s a personal gift from Mick Fanning to his fellow competitors on the ASP World Championship Tour.

“I wanted to give my peers something that they could remember their time at Bells by,” said the twice ASP World Champion. “The Rip Curl Pro is such an important contest and ringing the Bell can make a pro career.”

“The poncho is something that both the guys and the girls can use so everyone will be covered. Like the rest of my range the materials are premium and I couldn’t think of anything finer than 100% Woolmark certified Merino wool for that. It’s natural fibres against the natural elements of Victoria’s Bells Beach. It’s made for surfing on the edge of the world.”

While the poncho remains exclusive to the pros, MF wanted something else more suited to and available for the fans. So we created the “MF Ram Series” jacket and fleece made from 100% Woolmark certified Merino wool. The “MF Ram Series” will be available in Limited Edition quantities this April at ripcurl.com with the complete collection hitting stores September, 2013.

The “MF Ram Series” jacket and fleece are MF’s “go to garments” when he needs something truly special in cool conditions. Unique pieces for sharp style and smooth comfort on the road. Merino wool remains dry and comfortable in the elements, but is also breathable and odourless as it changes with body heat for easy wearing.

“I’m stoked about the collaboration on these jackets,” said MF. “When we started on a personalised range, I really wanted the clothes to be special and made for life on the road and Rip Curl’s understanding of the Search has helped us produce that. Chiming in with Woolmark Australia added another cool layer of quality. When you hear the words 100% merino, you know its something special”.

Watch and follow Mick Fanning at the Rip Curl Pro and on the event webcast for a chance to win one of the pieces; or be the first to feel it by shopping online at ripcurl.com and grabbing one of the Limited Edition “MF Ram Series” signature pieces for yourself!
