Shanxi Province-based Chinese steelmaker Taiyuan Iron and Steel (Group) Co. Ltd (TISCO) has announced that three overseas classification societies - Korean Register of Shipping, Germany's Germanischer Lloyd and Norway's Det Norske Veritas - have approved its forged steel products for application in the shipbuilding sector. Meanwhile, TISCO is in the final phase of the process of applying for certification for its forged steel products by British, French and US classification societies. TISCO stated that it received certification for the given products from China Classification Society in December last year.
With the approval granted by overseas classification societies, TISCO expects to speed up its production of forged steel used in ship manufacture.
