Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc. plans to introduce four tires into the replacement market in the next two years, beginning with the Solus TA31 in June 2014.
The new high performance all-season touring tire, which will replace the KH16, will be launched in 37 H- and V-rated sizes ranging from 16 to 18 inches.
However, three sizes available as fitments on the 2014 KIA Soul were announced in October: 205/60R16 92H, 215/55R17 94V and 235/45R18 94V.
Features of the tire include the following:
* large inner and outer shoulder blocks designed for excellent dry traction and handling;
* siping in the middle ribs that contributes to “confidence inspiring wet and snow traction,” according to the company;
* a symmetric five-rib, four-groove tread design that provides long, even wear;
* cross grooves in the center ribs for wet traction and hydroplaning resistance.
Although the tire is not backed by a limited tread wear warranty, Kumho says it has “excellent wear characteristics.”
The new Kumho Ecsta PA71, a grand touring UHP all-season tire, will be available in 38 sizes in December 2014. It will replace the Ecsta LX Platinum (KU27).
Kumho also will add six sizes to the Ecsta PA31 line in March 2014.
In March 2015, Kumho will introduce the Road Venture AT51 in 43 sizes. It will replace the KL78. David Koh, marketing communications manager, said this is the tire Kumho dealers have been asking for.
In May 2015, Kumho will launch the Solus TA11, a broad-line, entry-level all-season touring tire in 44 sizes. It will replace the KR21.
