Plating System for Treating Proximal Humeral Fractures Has Been Introduced by Orthofix

Orthofix International through its international orthopedic distribution network has introduced a new plating system for the treatment of proximal humeral fractures.

The Contours Proximal Humeral Plate (PHP) features an anatomically contoured left and right plates with a low head profile and requires fewer and smaller diameter screws to be inserted in the humeral head for reducing the risk of further vascularity damage.

The device, which can be easily applied as well as removed, provides enhanced stability through triangular configuration of the proximal screws consisting of a Main Locking Screw and angulated Fine Threaded Screws, according to the company.

Orthofix International president and chief executive officer Brad Mason said, "With this internal fixation device, Orthofix now has a complete hardware offering, including a nail, plate, and external fixation system, for the repair of proximal humeral fractures."

The company said the product launch is currently being rolled out in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
