Daimler Is Planing to Supply Engines, Axles for Kamaz Trucks, Buses

German truckmaker Daimler Trucks has signed an agreement to supply engines and axles for the Russian truck manufacturer Kamaz's trucks and buses.

Under the contract, Daimler will supply OM 457 truck diesel engines and M 906 bus natural gas engines as well as front and rear axles for trucks and buses to the Russian manufacturer.

According to the company, Mercedes-Benz's plant located in Mannheim is expected to supply the engines to Kamaz, while the plants located in Kassel and Gaggenau will deliver axles.

Kamaz is now expected to receive about 7,000 engines and 15,000 axles per annum from the German truckmaker.

The enhanced environmentally friendly vehicle (EEV) compliant natural gas engines with an output of 170 kW to 205 kW and the Euro V compliant diesel engines with a performance of 260 kW to 335 kW will now complement the Kamaz engine lineup.

In addition, the two companies are further planning to manufacture axles in Russia through a joint venture.

Previously, Daimler and Kamaz has signed an agreement covering the supply of Mercedes-Benz Axor cabs, which will be used in a new Kamaz truck generation.
