Peruvian Textiles Generated Interest Among Entrepreneurs at The Expo Peru-Brazil

Peruvian textiles generated interest among entrepreneurs at the Expo Peru-Brazil, held in Belo Horizonte, the capital of Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, Peru’s Ambassador to Brazil Jorge Bayona Medina said, according to an andina report.

Brazil is the largest trading partner of Peru in the region, and it is the third largest destination for Peruvian textile exports, which shows the interest for Peruvian textiles in the Brazil, the Ambassador said while speaking at the business forum “Peru, strategic partner for Brazil in South America”, held as part of the Expo Peru-Brazil.

The diplomat projected Peru’s exports to Brazil to grow at around 50 percent, which would be significant in view of the slow recovery in international markets.

He noted that Peruvian investments abroad, particularly in Brazil, are in diverse sectors, including the textiles and clothing sector, which is a clear expression of confidence that Peruvian entrepreneurs have in the present and future of Brazil.

The Expo Peru-Brazil provides an opportunity for Peruvian entrepreneurs to showcase their products.

The city of Belo Horizonte is one of the venues for the 2014 Soccer World Cup, and hence a large group of entrepreneurs from Gamarra garment emporium, especially those engaged in manufacturing of sportswear, participated in the Expo, Peru’s Commission for Promotion of Export and Tourism (PromPeru) said.

Expo Peru-Brazil was earlier held in Sao Paulo.

The city of Belo Horizonte was selected for the expo as it has great potential opportunities for foreign trade, as the city is the second largest in Brazil in terms of population, with 20 million people residing in the city.
