Shares of PC-related companies have slumped as IDC said PC sales fell 14% in Q1 compared to Q12012.
IDC called the magnitude of the decline "surprising and worrisome."
"The Windows 8 launch not only didn't provide a positive boost to the PC market, but appears to have slowed the market," says IDC vp Bob O'Donnell, adding that "PCs are a less attractive alternative to tablets and other competitive devices.''
