A Number of Core Issues Were Identified at Its First Meeting on 22 and 23 May in Rome

A number of core issues for the Global Timber Forum (GTF) were identified at its first meeting on 22 and 23 May in Rome, the European Timber Federation reports. Industry and association representatives from around the globe are to share information about key issues for the wood sector, such as international wood trading laws, sustainable building initiatives and climate change, in the GTF and find a common position that is communicated externally. A decision is next to be made about the GTF’s organisational structure and communication strategy. The launch event, which was attended by a good 80 representatives of the wood industry, included the election of a seven-person committee with one member to represent each continent and China.
