JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys are among the retailers and service providers that were recognised last week for their outstanding levels of customer satisfaction in 2013 at the Roy Morgan Customer Satisfaction Awards, hosted by Roy Morgan Research.
The awards were based on responses from more than 50,000 customers and 22,000 “business decision makers” who ranked Australia’s top businesses when it comes to customer satisfaction. A number of well-known brands made the list outside the electrical retailing sector, including Qantas, Westpac and 7-Eleven, while suppliers such as Apple and Volvo also made the cut (the former recognised as Handset Provider of the Year).

Focusing in on retail, JB Hi-Fi picked up the award for Music/Book Store of the Year for the third year running, while The Good Guys also notched up a third win as Furniture/Electrical Store of the Year. Myer was also recognised for the second time as Department Store of the Year, while Harris Scarfe and Home Timber & Hardware stood out as Discount Department Store and Hardware Store of the Year respectively.
Speaking about the awards, Roy Morgan Research CEO Michele Levine said they were offered a prestigious level of recognition for recipients.
Since their inception three years ago, the Roy Morgan Research Customer Satisfaction Awards have earned a reputation as the most accurate and reliable measure of customer satisfaction in the country.
By aggregating 12 months’ worth of responses to our Consumer Single Source and Business Single Source surveys, Roy Morgan is able to identify and celebrate those businesses — large and small — that have outperformed their competitors in customer satisfaction.
Congratulations to this year’s winners, whose continued commitment to satisfying their customers is setting industry standards and being recognised not only by consumers but by businesses around Australia.
Commenting further on the retail industry, Levine said:
With their specialist, professional service, enjoyable in-store experiences and competitive pricing, these businesses are a timely reminder that — if done right — traditional retail can survive and thrive alongside its online equivalents.
