MessagePetz Bear described as "Teddy Ruxpin for the smartphone generation".
MessagePetz, a wi-fi enabled teddy bear, has launched on crowd funding site Kickstarter today and hopes to raise $45,000 from backing.
The new teddy bear uses wi-fi technology to enable parents and children to communicate and send the MessagePetz bear a personalised message from the free companion app on any smartphone.
The bear's LED heart will then light up to let children know a message is waiting before displaying the message on the bear's screen.
Early backers in the crowd funding scheme will receive their own bear at a 'special' price of $89.
Glenn Jones, co-founder and CEO of MessagePetz, said: "Being away from your kids can be one of the most difficult things a parent can go through.
