US-based ECG technology provider Mortara Instrument has signed a definitive agreement to purchase diagnostic cardiology product line of Cardiac Science.
The purchase will include Cardiac Science's Burdick and Quinton brands and associated products excluding the MySense single-patient ECG Recorder system and the resuscitation business unit that markets automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
Cardiac Science CEO Neal Long said with the divestment of the diagnostic cardiology product line, the company will now focus on the expansion of market share in its resuscitation business.
The financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.
Mortara Instrument CEO Dr Justin Mortara said the addition of the businesses will accelerate the introduction of the company's ECG technology to new markets.
