Food Protection Training Institut Assiste SFDA to Improve Food-Safety Training System

The International Food Protection Training Institute has announced that it will assist the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) to improve the food-safety training system in Saudi Arabia and the surrounding region.

The training institute will deliver professional-development training programs through Michigan State University's Saudi Arabia Food Safety Education-Training Initiative (SAFE-TI) Office.

The SFDA is a government authority responsible for regulating the safety of food along with drugs and medical devices.

SFDA vice president Ibrahim S. Al-Mohizea remarked that this alliance will increase their capacity as a national food safety regulator.

Michigan State University president and chairman Frederik Derksen said this is an exciting opportunity to use MSU's renowned international expertise in food safety to improve Saudi Arabia's knowledge base and regulatory infrastructure.

The International Food Protection Training Institute is a member of the Global Food Protection Institute, a nonprofit organization driving the adoption of food-protection policies and practices for a safer global food supply.
