A New International Communications and Information Platform Will Be Created in GTF

A new international communications and information platform for the wood sector will be created in the form of the Global Timber Forum (GTF). At the first meeting in Rome, Italy, on 22 and 23 May, representatives of various international producer and importer associations will discuss the future configuration of the GTF and the latest challenges for the international timber trade. The backdrop to the development of the GFT is the necessity for producers and importers to regularly exchange views on important trading topics, according to André de Boer, general secretary of the European Timber Trade Federation, which initiated the GTF. In what form and with what frequency the forum is to be held and how the information exchanged there will be communicated further, will be decided at the first event in Rome.
