The Mexican Government Would Continue to Support The Canaive for Increasing The Apparel

The Mexican Government would continue to support the National Chamber of Apparel Industry (CANAIVE) in order to increase productivity and competitiveness of the apparel sector of the country, said Secretary of Economy Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal, during the LXIX Ordinary General Assembly of CANAIVE in the Mexican capital of Mexico City.

According to a statement issued by the Mexican Ministry of Economy, during the LXIX Ordinary General Assembly of CANAIVE, Secretary of Economy Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal endorsed the commitment of the Mexican Government to cooperate with CANAIVE for the development of the apparel industry.

The Secretary asked apparel manufacturers of the country to take initiatives to promote Mexican clothing and develop new technologies that can help Mexican apparel to compete in the international market.

At the meeting, Sergio Lopez de la Cerda, who was re-elected as the CANAIVE president, said that the Government, the industry and the society need to work in unison for the development of the sector and entrepreneurs need to be willing to work towards producing value-added textile products that can increase exports.

Entrepreneurs need to invest in research and development (R&D) for manufacturing new and innovative products that can compete in international market and make Mexican brand of clothing an international brand, he added.

The LXIX Ordinary General Assembly of CANAIVE was also attended by undersecretaries of Ministry of Economy, Rocio Ruiz, Francisco de Rosenzweig and Rogelio Garza, vice president of the Confederation of Industrial Chambers Manuel Herrera and President of the National Association of Supermarkets and Department Stores, Vicente Yanez.
