Iran Will Unveil The Ethylene Plant in Assaluyeh by September

Iran will unveil the ethylene plant in Assaluyeh by September, according to Marzieh Shahedaei, director of the National Petrochemical Industries Company (NPC), say media reports.

Shahedaei said the second phase of the complex would supply the ethylene to all petrochemical complexes operating in west ethylene pipeline grid if it received enough ethane. “With provision of enough ethane to the complex, it will increase ethylene produced to more than 2 million tonnes annually,” she said.

Ethylene is a raw material used in manufacture of polyester.

Shahedaei said that the projected time for operating Kavian petrochemical complex would be the first half of the current Iranian calendar year (beginning March 21, 2015), which she conditioned on receiving enough amounts of ethane as raw material.

“However, the first phase of the complex is currently working at half its capacity due to lack of input material. By November, we predict that the complex will be in full operation. Ethylene produced by Kavian complex would be received by Kermanshah polymer complex and Ilam petrochemical complex as well as other complexes operating in west ethylene pipeline grid,” Shahedaei told the media.
