Opening New Eur20m Pharma Packaging Plant in Gujarat, India

Indo-German joint venture SCHOTT KAISHA has opened its new pharmaceutical packaging plant in Jambusar, Gujarat, India with an investment of €20m.

The latest investment will enable SCHOTT KAISHA to increase its production capacity in India by about 50% to around two billion ampoules and vials annually.

According to the company, the Jambusar plant has 20 production lines for ampoules and 16 for vials, and further plans to expand another five to six modules in the area in the coming years.

The facility uses robotic feeding technology for tube-loading as well as camera inspection systems with SCHOTT Fiolax tubes used as base material.

SCHOTT KAISHA managing director Kairus Dadachanji said the new plant sets new standards in the country and the investment is expected to result in better quality opportunities for its customers.

"In other words, we will be helping the Indian pharmaceutical industry to achieve its own growth objectives," Dadachanji said.
