China-based LED packaging houses, including Leedarson Lighting and Yankong Lighting, have fully automated packaging lines for 0.2-0.5W 2835 (specification code) low-power LED chips for use in light bulbs and tubes, with prices lower than those quoted by Taiwan- and Korea-based competitors, according to industry sources.
Japan- and Taiwan-based makers have replaced 5630 with 3030 LED chips which have become mainstream specification for LED lighting, the sources said. However, China-based makers have adopted 2835 low-power LED chips for lighting, and growing compeition has in turn brought down 3030 LED chip prices by about 40%, the sources noted.
International vendors such as Philips Lumileds Lighting and Cree have focused on in-house production of high-power LED chips for use in LED lighting and procured low- to mid-power models from outside sources, the sources said.
