Leviton, a manufacturer of electrical wiring devices, has launched its new Level 2 (240V, 40A) electric vehicle (EV) charging station, which can provide 9.6 kW output.C
The new charging station comprises a 25ft charging cable which will offer flexibility in the mounting location and its weatherproof, thermoplastic NEMA Type 4 enclosure allows it for use in both indoor and outdoor locations.
It features the company's patent pending "cord-connected" system, which is suitable for indoor applications, and can be converted to hard-wire for outdoor applications.
The 40A charging station, which can charge Toyota RAV4 EV in about six hours, features a built-in communication to verify proper connection before the charging begins.
Its auto-restart feature will enable charging to restart following a minor fault, further reducing the chance of being stranded with an undercharged battery.
