India's Consumption of Finished Steel Products Remains Stable

According to data released by the Joint Plant Committee (JPC), India’s consumption of finished steel products totaled 17.8 million tons in the first quarter of the current fiscal year 2013/14 ended on June 30th, 2013, remaining stable from the same period of a year ago.

In the given period of time, the country’s production of finished steel products totaled 19.7 million tons, rising by 3.9% year on year.

Among them, the finished steel production made by the state-owned steel producer Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) totaled 2.5 million tons, up slightly by 0.5%; that produced by Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL) was at 703,000 tons, increasing by 14.3% and that made by Tata Steel was at 1.8 million tons, soaring by 30.1%, all compared to those in the same period of a year ago.
