Pendleton Woolen Mills, an American Heritage apparel and manufacturing company headquartered in Portland, Ore., is opening a store in the Historic Third Ward of Milwaukee, Wis. Located in the Historic Third Ward Firehouse.

Pendleton, based in the Pacific Northwest, offers a wide range of men's and women's apparel for a range of consumers, from classic to contemporary, along with an extensive collection of accessories, home décor and gifts.

The company is recognized for its signature, Native-American inspired trade blankets and iconic men's shirt, and is known for craftsmanship worldwide. Born of a family heritage of weaving fine woolen textiles dating back 150 years, Pendleton continues to operate two of the oldest woolen mills in the country.

Committed to fabric innovation and a "Warranted To Be Promise" of superior quality and fashion-right styling has earned the Pendleton brand respect around the globe. Pendleton brands have graced runways in Tokyo and Paris, fashion magazine spreads, and have found expression in collaborations with major apparel and footwear brands.

In 2013 Pendleton celebrates its founder, Thomas Kay, who came to Oregon in 1863 and became instrumental in the state's woolen mill industry. Today, the sixth-generation, family-owned business continues the legacy of Thomas Kay with the same expectation of excellence for the Pendleton brands. In tribute, Pendleton launches this fall an exclusive offering, the Thomas Kay collection of women's and men's apparel and accessories for the updated traditionalist.

The Pendleton Historic Third Ward store will also feature Pendleton's most contemporary brand, THE PORTLAND COLLECTION, independently designed to give the brand's iconic textiles a fresh edge. Full lines of classically styled men's and women's clothing, accessories, blankets, and home furnishings are available and rounds out a complete assortment of Pendleton's Brand World of products.

"Pendleton feels fortunate to be joining the vital and energetic community of the Historic Third Ward," said Mark Korros, CEO of Pendleton. "With its colorful past and rich history, it is the ideal home for our newest store and we are excited to bring Northwest-inspired products to discerning Milwaukee shoppers."

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Historic Third Ward "is Milwaukee's oldest center of commerce and warehousing," according to the Historic Third Ward Association. The Historic Third Ward is home to countless art galleries, restaurants and shops. It has been a magnate to creative enterprises, from advertising agencies and architecture firms to theatre groups, while integrating housing, office and industrial spaces. Pendleton joins other celebrated, centennial companies that call Milwaukee home, and recognizes Harley Davidson on its 110th year of business.
