Apple is to investigate an accident in which a woman in China died after using an iPhone 5 while it was charging.
The incident occurred last Thursday, and Chinese news agency Xinhua reported that the woman, Ma Ailun, was 23 years old, came from Xinjiang and had a job as a flight attendant with China Southern Airlines.

She was electrocuted when she took a call on the charging smartphone, police said.
"We are deeply saddened to learn of this tragic incident and offer our condolences to the Ma family. We will fully investigate and cooperate with authorities in this matter," Apple said in an email to Reuters.
The iPhone 5 was bought in December 2012, and has been handed over to police along with other relevant items.
Reports claim that the family of the victim did not ask for compensation from Apple, but has urged users to be more careful when using Apple's iPhone 5 devices.
