Industrial Production Increased by 0.8 Percent in March This Year

In Sweden, industrial production increased by 0.8 percent in March this year compared to February, and remained stable year on year in working day-adjusted figures, according to Statistics Sweden (SCB). New orders for Swedish industry continued to increase in March, rising by 10.5 percent in seasonally adjusted figures compared to February. In March, new orders increased by 11.2 percent in working day-adjusted figures compared to the same month of the previous year.

On the other hand, the production index for the Swedish basic metal industry decreased 1.7 percent in the first quarter of this year compared to the fourth quarter of 2012, while in March the production of the country's basic metal industry decreased by 11.5 percent year on year and was down 3.5 percent compared to February.

In the first quarter of this year, new orders for basic metals in Sweden decreased 1.8 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2012, while new orders for the Swedish fabricated metal products industry, except machinery and equipment, decreased by 7.6 percent in January-March this year compared to October-December 2012.

The SCB also announced that the number of completed dwellings increased during 2012 in Sweden. A total of 25,993 newly built dwellings were completed in 2012, increasing 30 percent compared to 2011.
