PolyRemedy, a US-based provider of wound management systems, has added Hyaluronic Acid (HA) to its HealSmart Antimicrobial Dressings.
The FDA-cleared HA substance, which is added utilizing the company's proprietary electrospinning process, does not alter HealSmart's beneficial absorption, hydration and oxygen permeability characteristics, claims the company.
A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized, controlled trials for HA have showed that HA derivatives accelerate the healing process in burns, epithelial surgical wounds, and chronic wounds.
PolyRemedy president and COO Cameron McKennitt said HealSmart's personalized, direct-to-patient dressings ensure appropriate and consistent wound care treatment.
"This innovative approach combines with our high performance materials platform to deliver results," McKennitt added.
"Our customers' data has consistently demonstrated more and faster wound healing versus existing standards of care, and we believe the addition of HA into our HealSmart dressings will further enhance these outcomes."
