York Technology in UK has been developing a new generation of Balanced-Coil Needle Detectors with their partners Taiwan Spreading Centre Enterprises Co., Ltd. The new ND-225 model is being launched at the CISMA 2013 show, being held in Shanghai from 25-28 September, at their stand located at W5, F13.
Ever since the departure of both Cintex, and Safeline-YDS brands of needle detectors, there has been a gap in the market for a ‘Balanced-Coil’ needle detector machine that can achieve the Nike specification of 1 mm ferrous test ball detection within sewn products which may contain metal accessories such as zips etc.
Due to the structure of the electromagnetic copper coil which completely encircles the product feed tunnel, balanced-coil technology confers many benefits to the application of metal detection in the textile industry. Most of all, It ensures on-spec detection in all parts of the aperture without 9-point testing, or having to pass the product through multiple times.
Unlike the commonly available magnet-plate (single-sided) types, a ‘Balanced-coil’ machine can be located simply and easily in most factory environments which meet basic electrical supply requirements, and without the need for specially 'isolated ‘quiet’ rooms, which have to be built away from magnetically noisy equipment such as sewing machines.
The TSM’s ND-225 machine has been designed by York Technology Ltd.in UK and Taiwan in collaboration with Taiwan Spreading Centre Enterprises Co., Ltd. and will be manufactured there.
York Technology Ltd, based in Halifax, UK, was established in the aftermath of the exit of Safeline-YDS brand from the textile sector. An innovator with over 20 years experience in the design of industrial metal detection, it’s founders were the original pioneers of the balanced-coil needle detection technology with the YDS brand in the yearly 00’s, which gained many approvals from international brand leaders.
Taiwan Spreading Centre Enterprises Co. Ltd., based in New Taipei City, has been an innovator in the cloth spreading and cutting application for nearly a quarter century. With state-of-the-art R&D and manufacturing facilities, TSM was the OEM partner behind the Eastman Cutting brand of USA, jointly establishing a manufacturing plant in Ningbo, China.
This strong product development partnership, forged between TSM and York Technology now means that the balanced-coil needle detection technology will once again return to serve sewn product manufacturers, who regard product safety with utmost diligence when it comes to protecting their customers from the dangers of broken needles, and place a high value on protecting their brand reputation worldwide.
