Select European markets will get quicker and more powerful versions of the Ford Fiesta ST and Ford Focus ST hot-hatches thanks to a partnership between the Blue Oval and tuning expert Mountune.
The Mountune-enhanced Focus ST's turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine produces 202kW of power and 400Nm of torque, up 18kW/40Nm on the standard hot-hatch. The tuned version accelerates from 0-100km/h in 5.95 seconds, outgunning the standard Focus ST by more than half a second.
Enhancements to the Ford Focus ST Mountune include a cast alloy inlet duct, high-flow air filter element, and a larger alloy intercooler.
The Fiesta ST Mountune pocket-rocket gets a similar set of upgrades, including a remodelled air box base with secondary inlet duct and a high-flow filter element.
Output from the tuned Fiesta ST's 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine rises from 132kW and 290Nm (on overboost) to 158kW of power and 320Nm of torque. The Mountune edition's 6.7sec 0-100km/h sprint time is two-tenths faster than the factory model.
Ford says the Mountune packages can be fitted at its dealerships in 60-90 minutes and are fully compatible with the manufacturer's new-car warranty.
The Mountune packages will be available from September, with the Fiesta ST upgrade priced at £599 ($980) and the Focus ST from £1225 ($2000).
