The commissioning originally scheduled for the autumn of 2014 of the industrial-timber complex planned by the French company Erscia France at its site in Sardy-lès-épiry has been delayed. According to a report in the French newspaper Le Journal du Centre, the backdrop to the delay is evidently resistance within the local population and outstanding financial questions. The project, among the participants in which are the Belgian sawmill company Industrie du Bois de Vielsalm, comprises a large-scale sawmill processing up to 500,000 m3 per year, a 250,000 t pellet plant and a biomass power plant with an electrical rating of 12 MW. The company‘s home page now quotes the probable date of commissioning as autumn 2015.
