Peugeot Brazil has launched an entertaining Wacky Races-inspired advertising campaign for its new Peugeot 208 city car.

The 90-second spot stars a five-door version of the French brand’s new hatchback in a race against the characters of Hanna-Barbera’s much-loved 1960s animated series.

The Peugeot 208 makes light work of Dick Dastardly’s Mean Machine, Professor Pat Pending’s Convert-a-Car and the Gruesome Twosome’s Creepy Coupe to name a few before its driver pulls over to help damsel in distress Penelope Pitstop, whose Compact Pussycat is pulled over on the side of the road.

The Peugeot 208 was unveiled at the 2012 Geneva motor show and launched in Australia in September last year.

The standard three- and five-door city car range will be joined in August by the 147kW Peugeot 208 GTi pocket rocket, which will be priced from approximately $30,000.

As of the end of April, 652 Peugeot 208s have been sold in Australia at an average of 82 per month.

The Peugeot 208 is priced from $18,490 in 1.2-litre three-cylinder manual Active trim.
