Last Thursday (Jan.24), German Media reported that European Commission planned to build thousands of battery recharge stations. Siim Kallas, the transport commissioner of European Commission, announced the plans last Thursday (Jan.24).

It is reported that Germany only has about 2,000 battery recharge stations at present. According to the plan, the number of the battery recharge stations will reach 150,000 by 2020. The authorities in Brussels plan to build liquefied natural gas filling stations along the main traffic lines. It is reported that the longest distance will be 400 km by 2020. Trucks are the first means of transportation using the liquefied natural gas. The ships in the marine and inland ports will be offered these fuels.

European Commission also hopes to build an intensive gas filling network for the vehicles using compressed natural gas. It is reported that the highest amount of the natural gas stations will be 150 km. At present, only 1 million cars use natural gas in Europe.
