Domestic Raw Steel Production Was 1,812,000 Net Tons

According to the American Iron and Steel Institute, in the week ending November 30, 2013, domestic raw steel production was 1,812,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 75.6 percent. Production was 1,744,000 net tons in the week ending November 30, 2012, while the capability utilization then was 70.1 percent. The current week production represents a 3.9 percent increase from the same period in the previous year. Production for the week ending November 30, 2013 is down 2.1 percent from the previous week ending November 23, 2013 when production was 1,850,000 net tons and the rate of capability utilization was 77.2 percent.

Adjusted year-to-date production through November 30, 2013 was 88,705,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 77.1 percent. That is a 1.6 percent decrease from the 90,110,000 net tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 75.5 percent.
