A new textile park would be coming up in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, Union Textile Minister K Sambasiva Rao has said.
Speaking at the National Textile Summit 2013 held in Indore, the Minister said a textile park would be set up in the city of Indore. This would be the second textile park in the state, as an integrated textile park is already coming up in Chhindwara district.
Minister Rao also announced that the Central Government would be sanctioning Rs. 400 million for the textile park and would also establish a three-member committee for the upcoming project.
Mr. Rao said the textile park would give a new direction to the textile industries which are located in the region.
The two-day National Textile Summit was jointly organized by the Madhya Pradesh unit of Textile Association of India, the Madhya Pradesh Textile Mills Association and Spinners Club, and SVITS.
As of now, commercial production has commenced in 26 of the 61 integrated textile parks sanctioned by the Indian Government under the Scheme for Integrated Textiles Park (SITP) in the country.
