General Motors and Isuzu are recalling over 258,000 sport utility vehicles in the US and Canada due to a potential fire hazard.
The companies will fix short-circuits in power-window and door-lock switches that can cause fires.
The recall vehicle models include Chevrolet TrailBlazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier, Isuzu Ascender and Saab 97-X SUVs from the 2006 and 2007 model years.
The recall involves SUVs sold in 20 US states, Washington and Canada, where salt and other chemicals are used to clear roads in the winter.
GM said the malfunction could cause the power locks and windows to fail and, in very rare cases, start a fire.
The vehicles were sold or registered in Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Washington DC.
