Coal exports from the Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS) terminals based at Port of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, totaled 9.84 million mt in February this year, increasing by 6.91 percent compared to January, according to the company's announcement. 14 percent of the total coal handled at the terminals was coking coal.
In the first two months of the current year, coal exports from PWCS totaled 19.04 million mt, up 5.26 percent compared to the same period last year, while coking coal exports constituted 13 percent of these exports.
According to the released information, Japan was the largest export destination for coal shipments from PWCS in the first two months this year, with shipments to Japan accounting for 45.14 percent of total shipments, while coal exports to China made up 22.98 percent of the total.
