German firm Coburger Kartonagenfabrik has commissioned a Bobst’s Mastercut 1.7 flatbed die-cutter with the new automatic Breaker 2 Flat Track blank separator.
Coburger, which is engaged in production of offset-printed and litho-laminated sales packaging, also installed a Masterflute, a latest high-performance in-line laminator designed to produce sheets, which will be processed later.
These equipments allow the company to manufacture high-quality packaging made from laminated corrugated board, including double-wall corrugated board.
Coburger said that the new machines are a key component of its comprehensive new investment of €20m. As part of this effort, the company will also expand its production and storage area.
Coburger Kartonagenfabrik managing director Marcus Gebler said: "Under the central idea of Packaging 4.0, we are consolidating our market position in offset-printed single-corrugated and multi-corrugated sales packaging for manufacturers of consumer goods in virtually all industries.
"We installed the Masterflute and the Mastercut 1.7 with the world's first Breaker 2 Flat Track automatic blank separator in order to be able to continue to reliably produce top-quality packaging made from all types of corrugated board, from FF to BB, for our customers in the consumer goods industry."
With low power consumption, the Breaker 2 Flat Track is designed to process up to 300 bundles per hour which can range from 50mm to 300mm in height and can be composed of up to 10x5 blanks, providing flexibility in automatic layer preparation for packaging manufacturers.
Coburger Kartonagen production head Jörg Liebold said: "While conventional automatic blank separators work with clamping boards and transport rollers, special transport belts on the new BREAKER 2 FLAT TRACK reduce the surface pressure.
"A further advantage of transport belts is that the blanks are now transported from the die-cutter through the two Breaker 2 Flat Track modules to the Palletizer automatic palletization system in a completely level and therefore completely smooth and steady manner."
